By now it ought to be understood by Victorian Government members that Regional Forest Agreements recognise the responsibility of State Governments to determine how best to manage their own State forests. RFAs were never intended to be a convenient Federal-State legal shield to justify government subsidised, destructive logging practices.

The Victorian State Government has the power to end the practice of clearfell logging in the Otways through its regulatory processes under the Forest Act 1958 (Vic). It is as simple as that. All that remains is for the Government to find the political will to do it.
